It's set up so you pick a meal to make with a main dish, side, etc, and then it walks you through all the steps to make them at the same time so it's all done under 30 minutes.

As a busy working mom, I thought this would be great, but unless you have all the ingredients and want all the items in a given meal for dinner, it's not going to work for you.

Usually I will figure out what main meat I have and them look for a recipe for that, but with this book you can't just make one item without having to decipher which steps of the recipe pertain to just that item.

If you are doing a dinner party or having friends over and want to pick out a meal and shop for that meal, this is a great resource.

But if you are just trying to find a quick meal recipe for ingredients you have on hand, this book is probably not going to be your go-to recipe book.

As a foodie, and also a busy university student, the first recipe definitely was a pleasant novelty for me to eat and cook.

I was surprised there was a section on staying organized in the kitchen. I have much to learn even though I've been cooking since I was little about On my budget, even at a steep rate, the book is definitely worth it the recipes are not expensive if you are willing to make small changes.

As a cook, I was hoping to do it faster. Don't expect to be able to do all of the recipes first time in 30 minutes after prep. It's not realistic unless you have good culinary skills and familiarity with the recipes.

I will strive to do it in 30 minutes for next time. Also I didn't have a food processor so it took me slightly longer than 45 minutes chicken pie.

Although I have to say, I did it fairly quickly with a shredder, so many of the special bits of equipment are good to have, but not needed.

I will definitely go through the rest of the book doing most of the cooking on Sunday and otherwise picking the easier recipes.

The recipe I made involved around 6 servings which is good, because it's not worth it to make too many different types of meals for me. Easy to follow and everything comes out delicious!

Lots of quick recipes, but you'll need to convert from metric if you're American! This book is exactly the same as his "Meals In Minutes" book.

I have no idea of why they are marketing the exact same book with different titles. I now have two copies of this. I guess I will donate one to our local library.

Been watching the Series on TV and had to have these recipes. I have made a few meals out of this so far and they we're delicious. I didn't give it 5 stars as it took me closer to an hour to have the food ready.

You have to be the ultimate multi-tasker to get this done in 30 minutes. I do like the book, however the first meal attempted was "Chicago Mom of 3's 97 Minute Meal".

My sister uses Jamie Oliver books and is a great cook herself. I though I'd jump on the bandwagon. I do like a lot of the recipes but definitely more work than a week not dinner when you've small kids running around.

I'll save these for weekend dinners. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I thought that I would give this book a whirl after purchasing his '15 Minute Meals'.

So what do I think of it? Pros: - Most of the 'recipes' contain both a main course with side dishes , and a dessert which is a nice twist - The recipes are balanced and very nutritious with the gratuitous use of fresh ingredients which I like - Jamie, unlike other celebrity chefs, utilises pretty normal ingredients that you'll either have in your cupboard or can easily buy - There are plenty of recipes for vegetarians, fish and meat lovers - The recipes are varied - ranging from pasta, currys, salads, soup and risottos etc Cons - The 'Contents' page is bizarre.

It consists of two pages with long lists of recipes on both, with no easily discernible sections see photo. It took me a while to realise that the change in text colour had some loose meaning; Green text is vegetarian, purple is Italian, orange is chicken and fish, and blue is red meat.

He says that you need to organise all of your equipment beforehand, but to me, this IS part of the meal preparation.

Instead of telling you how to prepare each dish in the recipe and letting you decide the order in which you would like to make them, he lumps them all together.

This means that you are preparing them all at the same time, so you are jumping from one dish to another constantly.

Still a good book though, with some tasty recipes. The recipes are good but like everyone says are far from 30min.

It is great if you liek making, cutting and cooking as you go and if you have and like to use a food processor. Who wouldn't love this book, I mean yes there are a lot of ingredients that need to be bought and prepped, also u wouldn't say that it was necessarily going to make your food shop any cheaper if you're buying it for that then forget it but if, like me, you like to try new things, packed full of flavour but that's not going to take a load of 'one job' tools that you'll buy for one receipe but never actually use again then this is the book for you.

Ok I think he might be stretching the 30min per meal a bit far as I'm along with prep it will take longer but not by much, so don't time it, maybe that's just me.

I have enjoyed a far few recipes so far and it is nice to have a few new things out there that I could prob do during the week. I first came across 30 minute meals from the Sunday lunchtime repeats on More4 during I took a few of the ideas such as Asian greens to accompany some of my meals and then decided to get the book.

I was under no illusions that these can be done in 30 minutes - after all if you watch the show carefully you can see where they have edited it for example if he's chopping 4 bananas it will show him chopping two, cut away to a pan and when it cuts back a couple of seconds later all the bananas are chopped.

However once you get used to the meals and the techniques you should be able to get them done in around 40 minutes. And remember: these are full meals, not just one dish so unless your idea of cooking is sticking something in the microwave for 10 minutes or calling the local take-away this is still pretty good.

Best of all though is the variety and tastiness of the recipes - even some of the ones that don't look particularly interesting. Current favourites are the spinach and filo tart, vegetable rogan josh, quick ragu, piri piri chicken complete with Portuguese custard tarts!

I can also be good to take some of the salads or deserts to serve with other meals. I've bought this book for several other people as presents and everyone I know loves it.

I think this is definitely the superior book to 15 minute meals and it is backed by the complete set of programs available to watch on 4OD if you need clarification on how to do things.

I love this recipe book! The layout is great, beautiful photos and the recipes easy and quick to follow once you get into the swing of things.

I love this style of cooking.

Working quickly, arrange four sheets of filo pastry in a square, making sure that the inner edges slightly overlap. Drizzle a little olive oil over the pastry sheets before sprinkling with cayenne pepper.

Repeat this process until you have three layers of pastry. The spinach should have wilted by now. If it's very wet, drain it in a colander then add it to the egg mixture and grate in half of the nutmeg.

Mix well, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Pick up the greaseproof paper that the pastry is sitting on and transfer it to the frying pan or cake tin in my case so that the edges hang over the sides.

Push the pastry into the sides of the pan don't worry, filo is stronger than it looks then pour in the filling.

Fold the sides of the pastry into the middle to seal the pie and put the frying pan back on the heat for a few minutes. Transfer the frying pan into the oven to cook for around 20 minutes.

Coated ice cream - Remove the ice cream from the freezer to soften. Put the coffee beans and hazelnuts into a blender and blitz for around 30 seconds.

Break the chocolate into small pieces, add to the blender and then whizz it up again for another 30 seconds.

Pour the mixture into a bowl. If you have any leftover mixture I had loads it can be frozen and eaten at a later date. Place the coated ice cream balls back into the freezer.

This dish was at the top of my "must cook" list from the 30 Minute Meals book , mainly because of the anchovies and olives.

Ingredients Serves: 4 Puttanesca g dried spaghetti small can tuna in olive oil small tin anchovies in olive oil approx 30g 2 cloves garlic 1 tbs capers, drained fresh red chilis 1 handful pitted black olives 2 tins chopped tomatoes a pinch ground cinnamon salt and pepper 1 handful fresh parsley 1 lemon Garlic Bread ciabatta loaf small handful fresh parsley cloves of garlic to taste salt and pepper extra virgin olive oil Ganache g plain chocolate min.

Place a large frying pan on a low heat and fill a saucepan with the boiled water and a pinch of salt. Garlic ciabatta: Slice the ciabatta three quarters deep, making cuts at 2cm intervals, and then finely chop the parsley.

Scrunch up a large piece of greaseproof paper and dampen it under a tap. Open it up on a flat surface, oil it and place the bread on top.

Sprinkle the parsley over the top with a pinch of salt and pepper and then pour over a generous drizzle of olive oil. Crush garlic cloves on top and then smear the mixture over the bread, making sure it gets inside all of the incisions.
